For Jira Cloud administrators
Recover deleted Jira issues, safely.
IssueRescue for Jira is a Forge app for Jira Cloud. When someone accidentally deletes an issue, an admin can restore it from a snapshot the app captured while it still existed — as much of the original data as Jira allows, with duplicate-restore protection built in.
Marketplace launch coming soon
- Forge hosted
- Runs on Atlassian (eligible)
- Jira admin protected
- 30-day deleted-snapshot retention
How it works
- While an issue exists, IssueRescue keeps a live snapshot of it up to date — captured on create, update, comment, and worklog events.
- If the issue is deleted, IssueRescue marks that snapshot as deleted and lists it in the app's admin page (Jira Settings → Apps → IssueRescue for Jira).
- A Jira administrator can Restore the deleted issue — creating a new Jira issue populated from the snapshot — or permanently delete the stored snapshot.
What is and isn't restored
IssueRescue is upfront about the limits of what Jira's own API allows:
Supported restore
Summary, description, type, project, priority, assignee, reporter, labels, components, due date, custom fields (where supported), comments, and worklogs.
Restorable with limits
Comment and worklog authorship can't be reassigned via Jira's API — the restored item is created under IssueRescue's own identity, with the original author and date preserved as a note in the text, not as real Jira metadata.
Never restorable
The original issue key/ID, its original creation date, and its full change history. Jira always assigns a new key and a new creation date to the restored issue — the old ones can never be reused.
Who can use it
Only a Jira administrator can open IssueRescue's admin page and use its restore/delete actions. Every one of those actions independently verifies, server-side, that the person invoking it currently holds Jira's global "Administer Jira" permission.
Where your data lives
IssueRescue runs entirely on Atlassian's Forge platform. Snapshot data is stored exclusively in Forge's own hosted Key-Value Store, scoped to your installation — the app has no database, server, or infrastructure of its own, and no customer issue data is sent to any service outside Atlassian/Forge infrastructure. See the Privacy Policy for the full detail.
